For a university-level marketing class, I was told to create an example of a print-magazine ad for a company of my choosing. Being interested (and a little obsessed) with LEGO Minecraft at the time, I naturally chose to create an ad for this iconic collaboration.
My initial vision for the ad was to have an illustration of two Steves (the main character of Minecraft) staring at each other. One of which was going to be as he is represented in the game, and the other as he is represented in LEGO. Time restraints, however, forced me to take a different approach to designing this ad.
Instead of illustration, I opted to learn a new program: Blender. Having no prior experience with 3D modeling or 3D modeling software, I knew that choosing to learn this new program was going to prove difficult. However, I knew that someone somewhere had made 3D models for both characters available to download, so the only major roadblock after finding these models was adjusting the lighting and the environment. After watching several Youtube tutorials (and my laptop crashing several times), I came up with the product below.
Finally, after cropping it and running it through Adobe Illustrator, I came to the final product, which can be seen below.
